STEAM: Tradition Meets the Future Tour
- The STEAM: Tradition Meets the Future Tour is an all-inclusive travel and immersive experience. The standard duration of this program is thirteen days, eleven nights. The package is all inclusive, with:
- Return international airfares
- Bus and train transfers
- Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner each day
- An action-packed 13 day itinerary
- Innovation, discovery and design thinking in action. Students begin their journey in Tokyo at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan), a hub where curiosity and technology collide. Through interactive exhibits, they explore the frontiers of robotics, medical science, and space exploration; from ASIMO’s humanoid demonstration and the Geo-Cosmos globe to exhibits on DNA sequencing, earthquakes, and climate science. Beyond Tokyo’s waterfront, students travel to Tsukuba Science Park, Japan’s city of innovation, home to world-class research institutions. At KEK, they tour the Belle II particle accelerator, learning how particle collisions reveal the building blocks of matter. At Science Square Tsukuba, they discover how manufacturing, green technology, and life sciences converge to create a more sustainable future. They visit JAXA, Japan’s space agency, to explore JAXA's astronaut training and view the real-time operations of the KIBO Flight Control Room, connecting physics, engineering, and teamwork on an international scale. At CYBERDYNE Studio students witness robotics applied to medical rehabilitation, deepening understanding of how AI and engineering enhance quality of life. Students continue their exploration with a hands-on workshop at Japan’s National Institute for Materials Science, where they experiment with metals, shape-memory alloys, and advanced materials used in aerospace and renewable energy. The experience culminates at the Maglev Exhibition Centre, where students witness the power of superconducting magnets and build their own model Maglevs before observing the world’s fastest train reach speeds over 550 km/h.
Explore sustainability in Osaka. Students explore how science, engineering, and culture intertwine to shape a sustainable future. Visits to the Osaka Science Museum and Kobe’s Earthquake and Disaster Reduction Museum highlight how innovation, data modelling, and design thinking build safer, more resilient cities. When visiting Kindai University, students discover Japan’s pioneering research in aquaculture and sustainable fishing, learning how breakthroughs in Bluefin Tuna breeding blend biology, environmental science, and technology to protect both ecosystems and cultural traditions. Together, these experiences reveal how Osaka and its surrounding region exemplify Japan’s commitment to creativity, sustainability, and innovation in motion.
Downtime & General Exploration. Built in to every package is a block of "downtime". Use your sightseeing pass to visit sites including the Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Shrine and Osaka Castle, or explore the many different activities and experiences that are within reach from your central location.
