STEM: Aviation Workshops

This is an entry-level course that is designed for students who have a general interest in learning about aviation. Aviation encompasses a multitude of diverse disciplines, and this incursion will provide students with skills and knowledge that extend beyond the immediate and more obvious aspets that are required to pilot an aircraft. Students will be exposed to real-life applications of concepts covered within their standard Science and Mathematics classes. Student's will create aerofoils and use these to test and apply the principles of aerodynamics in order to better understand how objects can attain lift. This course is intended to give students appropriate grounding and insight into the skills necessary to undertake a career in aviation whilst enhancing their understanding and awareness of STEM in practice.

STEM: Rocketry Workshops

Applying STEM to Rocket Science. Our STEM: Rocketry workshops provide students with the opportunity to engage with a variety of topics within the STEM field associated with astrophysics. Students explore forces acting on a rocket, identify phases of launch, learn how to determine centre of mass and centre of pressure alongside determining stability of rockets pre-launch. This course is intended to give students appropriate grounding and insight into the skills necessary to undertake a career in rocketry whilst enhancing their understanding and awareness of STEM in practice.
